This Home in Sunny Puglia is Helping Me Overcome Winter Depression

Today, I am escaping the winter here in northern Europe and flying to sunny Puglia in Italy, all in my mind though. You can say it’s just day dreaming. But there is more to it than just that – that helps me look forward to something, the Sun, the sunny days, the beach, a retreat, a vacation. It may be just an illusion, but it helps me to think about something else other than the “dreary” winter that I am constantly thinking about.

If you suffer from SAD or Seasonal affective disorder, you must have gone through this phase or are currently going through it. There are lots of good advice on coping this out there in the internet world. However, I have tried some of the techniques, and have failed. I remember, there was a time when I just used to look at the pictures of the beautiful retreats by a beach (or anywhere practically), I would be lost in those pictures and somewhat forget my problems. There are some other methods too and I am exploring some more (I plan to write about these sometime soon) options. For today, let’s just admire this beauty in sunny Puglia.

In case you do not know much about Puglia or haven’t heard the name before, it is named as Apulia in English. This region is in southern Italy bordering the Adriatic sea and the Ionian Sea. I have heard and read that this region is still very Italian and life follows a slower pace.

While researching more on Puglia, I came to know about this home of Pino Brescia, an architect. He is the architect of this amazing resort called Borgo Egnazia near Fasanao in southern Italy.

I absolutely loved that outdoor space, especially that outdoor kitchen (along with the entire house). It gives such a Mediterranean vibe.

The good thing about researching on this place and house is, I forgot about my SAD part for a while. Isn’t that nice? Enough for today and more on this topic later. Have a happy life. 🙂
