A Swedish Apartment Shows How To Create An Interesting Contrast Of Pattern And Neutral Design

When it comes to Scandinavian home design, we usually think of monochrome color, neutral design, minimalism and mostly earthy tones. But I am seeing this intersting combination of pattern and neutral design more and more. The pattern is usually created through wallpaper, murals or textile and it can create a very intersting aesthetic. This Swedish Apartment from Alvhem shows how to create such an intersting mix just in case you are bored of using monochromatic or neutral design but at the same time do not wish to go all out and make your home very colorful.

The apartment itself is beautiful and the floral wallpaper only in the hallways and around closets make it interesting and contrasting. I like the otherwise earthy tones in the apartment as well. It is soothing, comforting and relaxing. However the addition of the floral wallpaper in a small dosage absolutely changes the look and adds layer, but at the same time it doesn’t feel overwhelming. That’s the balance and that to me is good design.
